Grit preserves the revision history of documents you choose — so you can see, study, and work with how a piece of writing actually evolved over time, not just how it ended up.

Most tools show you a document as a snapshot: the way it looks right now. Grit is built on a different idea — that the history of a document, the sequence of changes that produced it, is itself worth reading. For a writer, that's a record of your own process. For a teacher, it's a window into how students actually developed their work.

What you can do with Grit

• Connect documents you choose. Grit can create new Google Docs for you to work in, and you can also select existing documents from your Google Drive to connect. Grit only ever works with the specific documents you connect — never the rest of your Drive.
• Share with others. Documents Grit creates for you can be shared with students or collaborators, so their work happens in a place whose history is preserved.
• Follow the history. Grit keeps a faithful record of how each connected document changed over time, kept private to your account.

Your data stays yours

You own the documents Grit creates for you — they live in your own Google Drive. You decide which documents to connect, and you can disconnect Grit at any time from your Google Account permissions. What Grit accesses and stores, and how to delete it, is described in full in our Privacy Policy.
